Till‍ ‍TETHYS‍ ‍

Dear Reader…

Welcome to my website, where you’ll find a list of my writing and a reference to other things I did, do or have on my scope of things-to-do.

My novels range across genres, with some crossovers in the mix. There is near- and far-future science fiction, often with a touch of fantasy and speculation about the nature of reality, mind, consciousness, love and above all the deep nature of human connection. I also write contemporary and period romance and thrillers. My focus has always been and will remain with my characters. They are what matters. Everything else is just background.

The late Terry Goodkind is quoted as saying that he went for walks with his characters. Yeah, I get that.

I do not have a social media presence. Nuked my FB account almost ten years ago. That meant losing a platform for promoting my freelance photography and writing. However, there’s a torrent of evidence supporting the notion that social media have become a pestilence on human minds, and especially those of the young. Add to that social media’s infernal 2020s offspring, ‘AI’…

Why publish ‘indie’?

M first novel, Keaen, was published the traditional way in the late 1990s. It wasn’t an edifying experience as the novel went through a bunch of revolving-door editors and other mess-ups. And don’t get me started on the cover. 🙈 Also, by the time Keaen hit the market I had already finished the first sequel, with the third already on my mind. However , because of the repeated delays in publishing, my contract allowed me to reacquire the rights for Keaen. I published my version, using one of the first ‘free’ indie printed book platforms. Haven’t looked back since. It’s a lot of work doing everything: writing, rewriting, proofing, cover. But I love writing and doing covers; ever had since I was a teen. It’s like daydreaming on steroids and the best psychotherapy imaginable.

Do yourself a favor and avoid the all-controlling monstrosity Amazon has become by getting your indie-published books from an eBook store that allows you to download your own ePub copies! Smashwords happens to be my personal favorite.

There are lots of free ePub reader apps. If you are a Mac/iPhone person like me, you can just use the Books app!
Even better… With the Speech Central app you can listen to your indie ePubs for free!
